Punky's 2!!!!

sticking with tradition...yes, i know he's only 2 but it is a tradition =) on the day (nov. 5th) of airen's birthday, we ventured to topeka for birthday dinner at hooters! afterwards we headed to toys r us so he could pick out a toy!

we got him a shirt that says "life begins at hooters" and all the girls signed it

what a difference a year makes...above is his 1st birthday in killeen, TX and below is 2nd birthday in topeka, KS...i believe in 10-12 years he's really gonna appreciate this tradition!

he was sooo cute when they were singing to him!!




the following saturday (nov. 7th), we had a birthday party at our house...kept it simple with just a few friends and family...and had the perfect weather (think it was in the 70's) to play outside, jump in the bounce house, and blow bubbles!

Halloween

so this year for halloween, we went to gardner ks to spend the day with the wright family; unfortunately rodney wasn't feeling well, so he stayed in bed to get some well needed rest...halloween day joe, airen, laura, sunny and myself went to the KC pumpkin patch...we enjoyed playing with the pumpkins and gourds, the petting zoo, and of course the playground equipment =)

for halloween night, we dressed as the flintstones (wright family) and the rubbles (atkinson family)...laura and i made our costumes and they were a great hit!! rodney was able to dress up for a photo op!! granted we had to improvise to accommodate the KS weather (long johns and turtle necks underneath), we looked fantabulous!! =) we trick or treated to about 20 or so houses, and then went back to the wright's to pass out some candy...all in all we had a great time!!!

Punky's trip to the ER

so on monday the oct. 26th, after a week and half of coughin' and runny nose; we decided to take airen to the ER...initially we had gone to see a nurse practitioner on the 21st and since he wasn't runnin' a fever, he was just diagnosed with the common cold...on that monday he started runnin' a fever...while at the ER they tested him for the flu (which came back negative) and finally decided to do a chest x-ray that came back with pneumonia...he was such a trooper the whole time!!! from getting blood drawn, to the x-rays, even the IV!! of course he cried and fussed, but was very happy to see the popsicle that the (fantastic) nurse brought him! =) antibiotics, motrin & tylenol, and LOTS of TLC...and he's back to his rambunctious self!! =)

if you asked him to show you his "owie" he'd hold up his arm and give big puppy dog eyes...*L* too cute!!

Daddy's birthday

for joe's 35th birthday (aug. 30th), we had a good family day =) started off the day with breakfast at ihop, followed by a walk around the "riverwalk landing"...we then came home and did some yard work (joe's choice), and enjoyed playin' guitar hero =) after dinner we had some cake/cupcakes...hope ya' hada good birthday daddy!!

Texas visitors

(so i started this post and realized i never posted it ~sigh~) anyway...

back in august, our neighbors from texas came to visit...roy, ms. jan, and "lil" roy visited for a couple days while joe was at NTC. we had a lot of fun!! to include playing at the park, riding the buggy, a trip to the sunset zoo in manhattan, and swimming at the hotel pool...they were here for the 3 days that our power was out, so it was nice to have somewhere to go (their hotel room) *L* they are a great family and we will always be thankful for them all...especially ms. jan, who was truly heaven sent!!! she watched airen and the pets for us numerous times while we lived in texas...too bad we couldn't convince her to move to kansas with us! =) until next time, take care and much love!!! we've been stayin' pretty busy these last few weeks..enjoyed some company. our neighbors from TX came to visit for a week (see next post) and nene and aunt amber came to visit from MO, and help w/the garden!!! =) other than that, we've been enjoyin' the time outside and look forward to daddy coming home later next week!

tons of beets and a head of lettuce =) we also have beans, tomatoes, and cucumbers. mom helped me fix it all up...we canned 20 pints of beets, and she made some "frozen brocolli" that i'm sure joe will enjoy when he gets home!
